Dominic Sherwood was born in Kent, England. He attended Oakwood Park Grammar in Maidstone and Sevenoaks. He studied drama and theater at both schools and afterward, he left to work abroad in Kenya where he moved around for six months until he settled back in London. Before he signed with a agency, he worked in several plays. Aside from acting, Dominic does music. In 2008, he started a band called Tamarin Sky, he performed with the band on small stages before his acting career took center stage.

He got his first recurring role on The Cut‘s third season in 2010 as Jack Simmons. In 2012, he had a very short role in Not Fade Away playing a young Mick Jagger. He also guest starred in a episode of Sadie J. It was in 2012 that he achieved his first notable role in Vampire Academy as Christian Ozera. He’s had roles in other movies where he was uncredited (Stoned, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Stormbreaker). On April 20, 2015, it was announced that he was to play Jace Herondale (amongst other last names throughout the Cassandra Clare’s penned Mortal Instruments series) in the ABC Family drama, Shadowhunters.
